WAR

Há dias comecei a ler o livro "WAR" de Albert R. Leventhal , claro em inglês. Agora que estou em Inglaterra é impensável ler qualquer livro sem ser em inglês.

É engraçado como o que aprendemos nas escolas não é exactamente aquilo que aconteceu. Na verdade a única coisa que o livro tem de engraçado é que desconhecia a maioria dos acontecimentos. Aqueles de que tanto ouvimos falar como a Primeira e a Segunda Guerra Mundial são sem dúvida os acontecimentos marcantes da história... foram aqueles que mudaram a vida de forma a que hoje fosse possível viver da maneira que vivo.

Mas como não gosto de parecer uma total ignorante mesmo já o sendo, achei por bem dar uma olhadela neste tipo de livros... que nunca é demais para a nossa cultura.

A few days ago I started reading the book "WAR" by Albert R. Leventhal, of course in english. Now that I am living in England it's unthinkable not reading the books in english.

It's funny how things are... what we've been taught at school it's not exactly what happened in our history. In fact it's the only funny bit of the book, the amount of wars I didn't know that they actually existed. The most famous ones are World War I and World War II, they are definitely the ones that changed history, life... life as we know it now it's only like that because World War I and World War II happened.

But because I don't want to look stupid even knowing that I am, I thought I could have a look at this kind of book... which it's never too much for our head / ego.
